Job Description

Position Summary

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or CASAC C redentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor provides evidence-based individual and group therapy to clients aged 21 and older struggling with substance use and alcohol dependence, as well as support to their families and collateral contacts. Based in the Midtown Treatment and Research, this role combines direct clinical care with program development, training, outreach, and administrative responsibilities to support and grow our substance abuse treatment program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, treatment planning, and referrals for clients 21 and older with substance use and alcohol dependence.
  • Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based practices.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate actively in weekly peer clinical supervision and clinical rounds.
  • Provide training, outreach, and consultation to staff, referring agents, and external community partners on clinical issues related to substance use treatment.
  • Assist the Program Director with program development, quality improvement, and growth initiatives.
  • Offer peer supervision and contribute to staff professional development through in-service trainings.
  • Serve as acting director in the Program Director’s absence.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution or certified CASAC.
  • Current New York State LCSW licensure required or licensed CASAC.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in substance abuse counseling with adult clients.
  • Experience with evidence-based modalities (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, CBT, trauma-informed care) strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, hybrid position at Midtown Treatment Center.
  • Regular participation in clinical rounds, trainings, and program meetings.

Salary Range: $85,200-$93,100
