Job Title: Rack Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary

We seek a highly skilled and safety-focused Rack Refrigeration Technician to join our San Francisco, CA team. This position specializes in ammonia (NH3) industrial refrigeration systems and requires hands-on experience and technical expertise. Ideal candidates will hold CIRO or RETA certifications and have a proven background in maintaining complex refrigeration systems in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems.
• Conduct inspections and ensure optimal performance of rack refrigeration units and related components.
• Adhere to OSHA, EPA, and PSM/RMP compliance standards and all company safety protocols.
• Support the installation, startup, and upgrades of new refrigeration systems.
• Accurately document all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and refrigerant usage.
• Respond to emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and facilities teams to minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.
• Train and mentor junior refrigeration technicians to support team development.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with industrial refrigeration systems, especially ammonia-based systems.
• CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or RETA certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) protocols.
• Experience working in food processing, cold storage, or chemical manufacturing facilities.
• Proficient in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of refrigeration systems.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
