ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Quality Control Inspector , you will play an essential role in maintaining our reputation for excellence by ensuring that all products meet the highest standards. This position requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality assurance within our manufacturing process.

LOCATION : Birmingham, Alabama

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Visual Inspections: Perform in-process and final QC product acceptance testing, including non-destructive testing, to ensure compliance with standards and customer expectations.
  • Documentation: Accurately record quality assurance data, identifying and documenting product and process non-conformances.
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure that all products and processes adhere to industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including AWS D1.1.
  • Problem-Solving: Facilitate quality investigations and implement corrective actions in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Welding Oversight: Review welding processes, test welders, and maintain welding-related documentation.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams to uphold TASSCO’s quality objectives.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Perform inspections as required for urgent projects, which may occasionally involve travel.

KEY PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

  • First 3 Months: Build strong internal relationships, understand workflows, and establish a foundation in TASSCO’s quality processes.
  • First 6 Months: Take on increased inspection responsibilities, particularly in resolving non-conformance issues, while contributing to process improvements.
  • First Year: Demonstrate expertise in TASSCO’s quality standards and workflows, with potential to take on leadership responsibilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: 3+ years in steel fabrication manufacturing or related fields OR 1+ year of relevant experience with an Associate Degree.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and 3D models. Skilled in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and pi tapes.
  • Problem-Solving and Detail Orientation: Strong analytical skills with a focus on precision and continuous improvement.
  • Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to effectively interact with team members, clients, and outside vendors.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical Fitness: Capable of working in industrial environments, including confined spaces and at heights, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
  • Certifications: AWS CAWI/CWI certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience: 1–2 years as a Quality Inspector in an industrial steel fabrication environment. Familiarity with ERP or quality management software.
  • Metallurgical Knowledge: Understanding of metallurgy and its application in welding and fabrication.
