Physics Lead Teacher – KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate (KALC), KIPP MA

KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate (KALC) is seeking a passionate and equity-driven Physics Lead Teacher who believes in the power of science to ignite curiosity, deepen critical thinking, and prepare students to shape their futures with confidence.

You will play a critical role in helping our students build scientific knowledge, habits of mind, and academic confidence on their path to and through college.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom Instruction

• Serve as lead teacher for high school physics at KALC
• Prepare and internalize engaging, rigorous lessons aligned to Massachusetts frameworks and NGSS
• Create inquiry-based lab experiences and project-based units that emphasize application, analysis, and real-world relevance
• Differentiate instruction to support English Language Learners, students with IEPs, and a wide range of learning styles
• Set ambitious academic goals and use student data to drive planning and interventions
• Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, identity-affirmation, and scientific curiosity

School Culture & Relationships

• Create a safe, inclusive, and consistent classroom culture that supports learning and self-discipline
• Implement school-wide and grade-level systems for student behavior, accountability, and community
• Communicate proactively and regularly with students’ families about academic progress and support strategies
• Collaborate with grade teams and content teams to ensure aligned instruction and shared responsibility for all students

Professional Development & Contribution

• Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including summer training and weekly PD
• Seek and implement feedback from your coach and colleagues to continuously grow your practice
• Support school duties as needed (arrival/dismissal, transitions, lunch, etc.)
• Attend school events and contribute to community engagement

Requirements

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physical Science, Science Education, or a related STEM field
• Deep belief in the high potential of all students
• Commitment to anti-racism, equity, and culturally responsive instruction
• Willingness to develop strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Must pass all required criminal background checks

Preferred but Not Required

• Two or more years of full-time classroom teaching experience
• Bilingual (especially in Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole)
• Experience working with English Language Learners and/or students with disabilities
• Familiarity with lab-based, inquiry-driven instruction
• Massachusetts teaching license in Physics or a related subject

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $55,000–$89,500 (based on experience and credentials)
• $1,000 signing bonus and $2,000 annual retention bonus after year one
• Advanced degree bonuses: +$3,000 for your first, +$1,500 for a second
