Cost Accountant | Ludington, MI

Salary Range: $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Perform variance analysis for material, labor, and overhead, investigating significant deviations.
• Manage inventory valuation, ensuring accurate costing and reconciliation.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic cost forecasts.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.
• Ensure the accuracy of cost data and adherence to internal control policies and procedures.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
• Strong understanding of GAAP, standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation methods.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
• Proficiency in business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or SQL.
• Demonstrated experience in leading or contributing to cost reduction and process improvement initiatives.
• SAP CO-PA or other advanced ERP costing module expertise.
