Job Description
I. JOB SUMMARY: DME is currently seeking a Certified Welding Inspector OR NACE Certified Coating Inspector to provide inspection services on Elevated Water Storage Tank Rehabilitation project in Howard County, Maryland; to support our construction management and inspection services related to Water Projects for varies government agencies.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Construction Supervisor to inspect the separate phases of elevated water storage rehab/construction and to identify any discrepancies, as necessary.
- Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and codes, and maintain up-to-date project records and test reports.
- Perform field testing and inspections in accordance with code and project requirements.
- Provide daily inspection reports and work closely with office staff on scheduling and reporting.
- Provide a progress report describing tests which were performed and compliance with work.
- Recognize construction problems and apply standard techniques and procedures to solve the problem.
- Function as the Owner’s agent with regards to the construction process.
- Evaluate and manage the quality of work being installed.
- Ensure all safety measures are in place to avoid catastrophic mistakes.
- Read/Understand contractor submittals, Request-For-Information (RFI), change order requests, and as-built drawing.
- Communicate conditions and field conflicts/changes to Project Supervisor and/or Construction Manager.
- Interface with client and the contractor, while working with, and taking directions from the Project Supervisor/Construction Manager, or other designee.
- Keep detailed records of the contractor’s performance and progress.
- Develop and maintain a punch list.
- Ensure all materials are available on-site during testing.
- Monitor contractor’s Quality Control plan and conformance with quality requirements.
- Collaborate closely with other team members along with personnel from local, state, and federal agencies.
- Ability to work schedules conductive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Ability to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to constantly complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specifications.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to DME’s related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
III. MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
- Experience in the industry is essential.
- Ability to read/interpret project plans, drawings, blueprints.
- Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, processes, methods, and techniques
- Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Solid oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Highly familiar with road safety and traffic control management
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as being part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Ability to work with staff and clients in a professional manner.
- Solid knowledge in MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Proven record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by DME’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
IIII. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High-School Diploma, college degree is a plus.
- 4-7 years of experience in elevated water storage tank rehabilitation projects, bridges, pipelines coating inspections
- Certified Welding Inspector OR NACE Certified Coating Inspector for corrosion control technologies and practices
V. CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, REGISTRATIONS:
- AWS-CWI certification or certification in progress
- NACE International certification
- OSHA certification a plus
