Job Description

About the Role: The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in the successful launch and operations of TUMO LA. This is a full-time, on-site position that blends community outreach, social media and digital marketing, student registration coordination, and in-person information desk support.

In this dynamic, people-centered role, you’ll engage with students, families, schools, and the broader North Hollywood community to ensure students are informed, supported, and excited to participate in TUMO. Leading up to our opening, your focus will be on outreach, marketing, and managing the registration process. Once the center is up and running, your responsibilities will shift to include front desk support several days a week, while continuing to lead digital outreach and support student engagement efforts. This position is ideal for someone who is proactive, organized, and brings strong communication skills, creativity, and attention to detail.

Location: In-Person, North Hollywood, CA

Salary: $75,000/year + benefits

Hours: 40 hours/week, including evenings and weekends.

Start Date: ASAP

TUMO’s Vision: The world’s full learning potential unlocked through innovative education resources available to everyone.

TUMO serves ~35,000 teens each week across 9 countries, including locations in Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Lyon, Yerevan and Kyiv among others. TUMO LA is the first US-based TUMO center with funding from the State of California and the City of LA. TUMO students are between the ages of 12 and 18 and attend TUMO centers to learn skills at the intersection of technology and design, completely free of charge.

TUMO is seeking a Marketing & Engagement Coordinator to lead student recruitment efforts, drive social media strategy and content creation, and manage the student registration process. TUMO LA currently has a waitlist of >1,000 students; your role will be to grow this list and ensure strong conversion to enrolled and attending students when the center launches this fall.

This is a full-time, on-site role that requires someone who is proactive, organized, and able to take ownership of projects from start to finish. You’ll be expected to develop and implement outreach strategies, build relationships with schools and local organizations, and create digital content that resonates with teens and their families. Success in this role will be measured by clear performance metrics: growth of our waitlist, increase in Instagram engagement, and most importantly, the number of students successfully registered for the program.

In addition to outreach and marketing, you will oversee the full student registration process—managing incoming applications, responding to parent inquiries, and coordinating schedules. Once the center opens, your role will shift to include in-person operations: staffing the front desk several days a week, supporting students and families in real time, and continuing to drive digital engagement from inside the center.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to recruit students and grow awareness of TUMO LA
  • Represent TUMO at school visits, events, and community activations; build relationships with local educators and organizations
  • Create and manage content for social media (Instagram, TikTok, etc.), aligning with TUMO’s brand and tone
  • Monitor digital engagement and adjust campaigns to reach and resonate with teens and their families
  • Oversee the student registration process, including application tracking, scheduling, and parent communication
  • Respond to inquiries from families via email, phone, and in person with clarity, warmth, and professionalism
  • Staff the front desk several days per week once the center opens; support student check-in, attendance, and daily operations
  • Contribute to a welcoming, responsive environment for students and families both online and on-site

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in outreach, marketing, communications, or youth-facing roles
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking and one-on-one interaction
  • Experience creating social media marketing content, including video, photography, and graphic design (portfolio required)
  • Proficiency with platforms including Instagram, TikTok, and Meta
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage student applications, scheduling, and multiple communication threads at once
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, low-structure environment
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to develop creativity, critical thinking, and research abilities as part of the role
  • Familiarity with tools such as Google Workspace, Canva, and Mailchimp
  • Availability to work evenings and some weekends as needed
  • Fluency in Spanish heavily preferred

To Apply

Send your resume and social media or design portfolio to: la.info@tumo.center

[Only applicants who submit through the listed email will be considered.]

Positions may not always be available at the time a resume is submitted. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
