Become the reassuring voice on the other end of the line—where compassion meets clinical excellence.

Now Hiring: Triage Telephone Nurse at Virginia Beach OBGYN

Virginia Beach, VA

Full-Time | High-Impact | Phone-Based Patient Care

Company Description

Virginia Beach Obstetrics & Gynecology, located in Virginia Beach, VA, brings over 50 years of excellence in Obstetrics, Gynecology, Infertility, Urogynecology, and Menopause Management to its patients.

Do your friends say you’ve got the voice of reason and the heart of a caregiver? Can you spot a red flag over the phone before anyone else realizes it’s waving? If you thrive under pressure, love helping patients, and bring calm to every storm, Virginia Beach OBGYN is calling—literally.

We’re on the lookout for an experienced Triage Telephone Nurse to join our clinical team and be the first line of care for our patients. You'll assess, prioritize, and guide patients over the phone with empathy, skill, and a deep knowledge of women’s health.

What You’ll Be Doing (and Rocking Daily):

  • Speak directly with patients to assess symptoms, determine urgency, and direct them to the right care—whether that’s the ER, a same-day appointment, or home care advice.
  • Use established triage protocols and medical logic tools (yes, there’s a system behind the magic!) to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Coordinate with physicians and schedulers to make sure no patient falls through the cracks.
  • Provide clear, comforting, and professional advice—even when things get stressful.
  • Jump in occasionally to assist on the clinic floor with tasks like phlebotomy, injections, catheterizations, and straightforward physical exams.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Current LPN or RN license in the state of Virginia (CPR certified too!).
  • At least 5 years of clinical nursing experience ; 1–2 years of triage nursing preferred—especially in a medical office setting.
  • Cool under pressure, fast on your feet (and your phone), and confident making triage decisions.
  • Comfort with EMRs and clinical databases—you know your way around a screen and a stethoscope.
  • Exceptional phone etiquette and the ability to stay calm, clear, and compassionate when patients aren’t.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • You’ll play a crucial role in keeping patients safe and well-cared-for—often before they even step into the office.
  • A positive, team-oriented clinic where nurses are heard, valued, and supported.
  • Beautiful, modern workspace in Virginia Beach with a whole lot of heart.
  • A chance to make a difference—one phone call at a time.

Ready to use your clinical skills and calming presence to guide patients with care and confidence?

Apply today by sending your resume to Shannon McDougal, RN at shannon.mcdougal@unifiedhc.com .

We can’t wait to hear from you!.
