Are you an experienced middle- or high-school teacher who loves teaching, but is frustrated with the current state of education? Are you tired of the bureacracy, teaching to the test, and checking boxes at the expense of real learning? Do you miss the days of seeing students eyes light up, making connections, and going down rabbit holes , imagining "what if...?"
Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for that special someone - someone who believes that curiosity is the key to learning and public schools are missing the mark in supporting creativity - even in math! We believe in making mistakes, in having a growth mindset, and that life skills and social-emotional development are as important as any academic subject. We want someone who can bring the energy, laugh alongside our students, and leverage curriculum in a way that maximizes student learning opportunities, keeps learning FUN, and does all the above in differentiated, ability-based classes.
Our teachers work collaboratively as a team and coordinate weekly field studies that incorporate the various subjects we're learning. All of our team also have the opportunity to teach related classes (eg. science) and/or electives in addition to their core subject area(s).
Our ideal teacher is someone who:

Our Vision and Model
We are a hybrid microschool supporting twice-exceptional and gifted middle- and high-students. Our classes are intended to provide academic rigor, not in the traditional sense, but in an innovative and supportive way. We have created a space where all learners feel safe, loved and comfortable being themselves. We acknowledge and provide for various types of learners - audio-, visual-, and kinesthetic. We don’t believe in grades, per se, or homework, or checking boxes. Our goal is to support curiosity, encourage questioning, engage our students’ passion for learning (in the various forms that may take), and make learning accessible.
This position can be either part-time or full-time, but both would require in-person teaching and be school-year-long. It is not a temporary position or a remote-work position.
To apply, please submit your resume, as well as a cover letter explaining your interest, qualifications, and salary expectations. In your cover letter, please share something that you are most proud of as an educator. Cover letters are required and applications without them will not be considered.
