Post-Operative RN (PACU)

Location: Bridgewater, NJ

Employment Type: Full-time, Tuesday–Thursday, 7 am–6 pm (No Weekends)

Pay Rate: $50/hr–$52/hr

Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Post-Operative RN to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Somerset County. This role focuses on the recovery and care of patients emerging from anesthesia following orthopedic surgical procedures. The ideal candidate has 2 years of experience in post-anesthesia care (PACU) or related post-op recovery settings and is confident in providing vigilant, high-quality patient monitoring and support during the critical recovery phase.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, assessing vital signs and level of consciousness.
• Provide immediate post-operative care, managing pain, nausea, airway patency, and overall stabilization.
• Recognize and respond to complications or emergencies promptly and effectively.
• Administer medications, including pain relief and antiemetics, per physician orders.
• Maintain accurate, thorough documentation of patient status and interventions.
• Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative instructions and discharge protocols.
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and OR staff to ensure seamless transitions of care.
• Follow established protocols for infection prevention and patient safety.
• Assist in maintaining readiness of PACU areas, including equipment checks and supply inventory.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuing education as needed.

Qualifications

• Current New Jersey State RN License
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of experience in PACU, critical care, or post-surgical units
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
