Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled and safety-focused Rack Refrigeration Technician to join our San Jose, CA team. This position specializes in ammonia (NH3) industrial refrigeration systems and requires a technician with substantial hands-on experience and technical knowledge. Ideal candidates will possess CIRO or RETA certification and have a background in maintaining complex refrigeration systems in industrial environments such as cold storage, food processing, or manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems.
- Conduct inspections and performance checks of rack refrigeration units and associated equipment.
- Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and PSM/RMP regulations and internal safety policies.
- Support the installation, upgrade, and commissioning of new refrigeration systems.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and system repairs.
- Respond to emergency service calls and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
- Collaborate with operations, production, and facilities teams to reduce downtime and optimize performance.
- Train and mentor junior refrigeration technicians, promoting safety and technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with industrial refrigeration systems, particularly ammonia-based systems.
- CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) certification strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) compliance standards.
- Industry experience in cold storage, food production, or chemical manufacturing environments.
- Proficient in mechanical and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.
- Flexible to work nights, weekends, or on-call as needed.
