Psychologist

Location: Fort Collins, CO 80521

Compensation: $107,000 – $130,000 (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary CAYAC (Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Connections) team. This role provides comprehensive psychological services for children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 18), supporting their mental, emotional, and social well-being.

The Psychologist will conduct clinical interviews, administer and interpret standardized psychological assessments, and develop detailed evaluation reports to guide treatment planning and interventions. This position collaborates closely with families, referring physicians, school liaisons, behavioral health providers, and community partners to ensure coordinated and effective care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessment and diagnostic services aligned with developmental needs from infancy through young adulthood (K–12).
  • Conduct testing intakes, perform assessments, review results, and provide clear feedback to patients and families.
  • Gather and review previous assessments when appropriate to determine additional or remaining assessment needs.
  • Develop thorough evaluation reports and maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning, case consultations, and staff meetings.
  • Offer consultation and support to CAYAC staff, community partners, primary care physicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay current on professional trends and best practices, sharing knowledge with staff as appropriate.
  • Support families in navigating screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for behavioral health disorders.
  • May provide training, mentorship, and supervision to interns and post-doctoral psychologists.
  • Actively contribute to the mission and goals of the Health District’s Connections and CAYAC teams.

Day-to-Day Workflow

  • Typical caseload includes 2–3 appointments per day, varying in length based on type of assessment.
  • One day per week is generally dedicated to report writing.
  • The Health District provides all assessment tools and resources needed.
  • The new hire will receive training and shadowing opportunities with the current staff psychologist, plus access to ongoing continuing education.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D., Psy.D., or Ed.D.) in Psychology, Clinical Counseling, or School Psychology.
  • Active Colorado licensure as a Psychologist.
  • Minimum of two years of experience (including internship/post-doc) conducting psychological assessments and diagnostic testing with children, adolescents, and young adults, and providing results to families and treatment teams.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Advanced expertise in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and DSM-5 criteria.
  • Knowledge of ASAM placement criteria for substance use disorder treatment.
  • Experience evaluating youth for autism spectrum disorders, cognitive disabilities, ADHD, trauma, and mood disorders.
  • Understanding of ADA, IDEA, 2e (twice exceptional) presentations, and special education services (IEP, BIP, 504 plans).
  • Formal training and experience administering the ADOS-2.
  • Strong communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills; compassionate and culturally sensitive approach.
  • Ability to provide therapeutic assessment and clear, supportive evaluation feedback to families.
  • Skilled at collaborating across disciplines and working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
