Job Description

Our client is a Direct to Garment Print (DTG) producer in the Print on Demand fulfillment industry now seeking an experienced Print Operations Manager / Production Manager / Manufacturing Manager to build out their custom paper printing division. In this role, you would be responsible for recommending and procuring equipment, setting up production workflows, establishing a supply chain, and ensuring operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in large-scale printing operations, equipment setup, and supply chain management, particularly in custom print production environments like Zazzle or Shutterfly. This is an onsite role (M-F) in San Jose, CA.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Procurement and Setup:

• Research, recommend, and purchase printing equipment and machinery for canvas, books, posters, and other paper-based products.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and testing of all equipment to ensure optimal functionality.

Production Workflow Development:

• Design and implement efficient production processes for custom printing operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate printing workflows with existing systems.
• Establish quality control standards to ensure high-quality output.

Supply Chain Management:

• Identify and establish relationships with suppliers for raw materials, including paper, ink, and other consumables.
• Negotiate contracts and manage supply chain logistics to maintain steady and cost-effective inventory levels.

Operational Oversight:

• Train and manage production staff, ensuring they understand equipment and workflows.
• Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and schedule routine maintenance.
• Continuously optimize production processes for efficiency and scalability.

Strategic Planning:

• Stay updated on industry trends and new technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
• Provide strategic insights and recommendations to expand the product portfolio and improve operational capabilities.

Qualifications

Proven experience in printing production, operations management, or a related field. Strong knowledge of industrial printing equipment and technologies (e.g., digital and offset printing). Experience with supply chain setup and vendor management in the printing industry. Exceptional project management and organizational skills. Ability to analyze workflows and implement process improvements. Solid leadership and communication abilities to manage cross-functional teams and vendors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with companies like Zazzle, Shutterfly, or similar custom printing businesses.
• Technical background in print manufacturing or industrial engineering.
