Title: Medical Technologist

Location: Houston, Texas

Job Type: 13 Weeks Contract

Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 3x12 hour shifts, or

Day Shift: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM, with weekend shifts from 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 4x10-hour shifts.

Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist will oversee the management and replenishment of patient supply inventory, support operational and financial performance, and ensure the accuracy of charge capture for patient supplies across acute care, critical care, and ambulatory areas. The role involves working with inventory systems such as Omnicell , OptiFlex , and Floor Stock Carts and ensuring that inventory levels are optimized to improve service levels while controlling costs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inventory Management : Oversee and replenish patient supply inventory across acute care, critical care, and ambulatory areas by performing or approving orders, reviewing cycle counts, and managing supply systems.
• System Management : Manage and ensure accurate reporting of Omnicell , OptiFlex , and Floor Stock Carts systems, ensuring charges for patient supplies are collected and processed in accordance with IDS policy .
• Charge Capture Compliance : Review discrepancies with nursing staff to improve charge capture and compliance with hospital policies.
• Operational Performance : Report on financial, productivity, and operational performance through monthly metrics and dashboards. Proactively seek opportunities to optimize inventory levels while reducing costs.
• Customer Consultation : Conduct consultations with healthcare teams and customers to review usage reports, trends, and adjust inventory levels accordingly.

Qualifications:

• Experience : At least 3–4 years of experience in Hematology , Chemistry , and Urinalysis . 2 years of supervisory/management experience in logistics and distribution is required.
• Skills : Proficiency in inventory control systems ( Omnicell , OptiFlex , PeopleSoft ), data analysis, root cause analysis, and process improvement. Strong leadership, customer service, and communication skills.
• Certifications : ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist (preferred) and EPIC Beaker LIS experience is a plus.
