Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Equipment Engineer

Location: Renton, WA

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. This role supports operational goals through predictive and preventive maintenance, while ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production and testing equipment, as well as facility systems.
  • Perform emergency and scheduled repairs on equipment, including welding when needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and equipment manuals.
  • Diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, and conduct adjustments as necessary.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs for machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Handle plumbing and carpentry tasks as needed.
  • Identify faulty operations or defective materials, report issues, and suggest corrective actions.
  • Safely organize and secure materials using equipment such as forklifts.
  • Maintain clean and orderly workspaces and comply with all safety regulations.

Equipment Expertise

The role requires confidence and skill in maintaining and repairing:

  • CNC Mills and Lathes (both manual and automated)
  • Precision Grinding Equipment
  • Hydraulic Testing Equipment and Pumps
  • HVAC Systems and Air Systems
  • Electrical Equipment, including heaters, temperature controllers, and rectifiers
  • Plumbing Systems

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years in equipment maintenance or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with obsessive attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to handle frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple high-priority tasks.

Certifications

  • Formal training in electronics.
  • Forklift certification.

Work Environment

  • The role involves working in an industrial environment with potential exposure to equipment noise, mechanical hazards, and moving machinery.
