TITLE THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Student Wellness

TIME COMMITMENT: Approximately 10 hours per week on campus; this position may include significant evening and weekend hours in an remote on-call capacity via phone

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: June 23, 2025- August 15, 2025

MODALITY: In-Person

COMPENSATION: $45/hour

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Wellness the incumbent is responsible for monitoring the social, emotional, and mental health wellbeing of all Pre-College students and maintaining associated wellness records/documentation. This includes consulting with a large staff of resident advisors, hall directors, faculty, and other administrative staff.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in mandatory staff training which may include facilitating training sessions for staff related to well-being support and processes for Pre-College students
  • Follow established state laws and University policies as it relates to working with minors
  • Review in advance every student’s file for the purpose of assessing and anticipating specific individual needs
  • Identify individual needs of students and discuss behavioral plans with administrative staff prior to the student’s arrival
  • Observe and interact with students and staff to promote a positive experience during the program
  • Work one-on-one with students who are experiencing difficulty participating in the program
  • Intervene if students are experiencing significant behavioral challenges
  • Help students and staff resolve conflicts appropriately
  • Provide support and guidance to staff as they deal with student behavioral problems
  • Meet weekly with Senior Leadership to discuss current student needs
  • Be available to debrief students / staff in situations where emergency actions are needed or advised
  • Manage situations that may arise during the program and provide necessary assistance to the student if wellness incidents occur
  • Consult and guide staff to monitor the overall emotional and social wellbeing of the community
  • Contact parents with the Assistant Dean to address observed problem behaviors and/or students' challenges in adapting to program settings
  • Maintain a weekly mental health log and submit incident reports via Maxient as needed
  • Continuously inform the Director and other appropriate supervisory staff informed of all situations and issues as they arise including potential issues that might impact a participant's ability to remain in the program
  • Make recommendations to the Assistant Deano ensure necessary follow-up with families occurs
  • Respond to high-level emergencies and situations outside of normal business hours
  • Work with the Wellness Coordinator to plan and execute programs for students during the week
  • Serves in an on-call capacity for emergency/crisis situations
  • Attends weekly CARE team meetings; consults with CARE team members regarding current students of concern; develops action plans to manage and follow up with situations
  • Develop student wellness workshops for students and parents

PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED OR REQUESTED

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have clinical licensure: either LMHC, LCSW, or LCAT
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience of working with teens/ young adults

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing health and safety initiatives in a university setting
  • Willingness and skill to assess safety risks and recommend safety plans for students
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a mature, professional manner
  • Experience in a similar setting - either University, K-12, or residential camp settings
