Job Title: Human Resources Specialist (Compliance)

Department: Human Resources

Location: Irvine, CA

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, bilingual Human Resources Specialist (Compliance) to join our HR Compliance team. This role will focus on Meal and Rest Period Compliance and Wage & Hour support , serving as a key liaison between HR and employees to ensure adherence to labor laws and internal policies. The ideal candidate will be skilled at building rapport over the phone, delivering clear and respectful communication about compliance matters, and maintaining employee trust and engagement during potentially sensitive conversations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meal & Rest Period Compliance:
  • Monitor and follow up on potential meal and rest period violations.
  • Make outbound calls to employees regarding missed or late meal/rest breaks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Clearly explain company policy and relevant labor laws, and document all interactions accurately.
  • Wage & Hour Support:
  • Assist in resolving wage and hour issues, including but not limited to timekeeping discrepancies and schedule compliance.
  • Partner with payroll and management teams to ensure accurate and timely resolutions.
  • Employee Engagement:
  • Build positive relationships with employees during compliance outreach.
  • Approach conversations with empathy and professionalism to promote understanding and cooperation.
  • Encourage adherence to company policies while maintaining employee morale.
  • Compliance Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all employee interactions and compliance findings.
  • Assist in preparing reports related to compliance trends and areas of concern.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources, compliance, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws related to meal/rest periods and wage & hour compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain policies clearly and tactfully.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Comfortable conducting a high volume of employee outreach via phone.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a high-volume, multi-location organization.
  • HRIS and timekeeping system experience (e.g., Kronos, ADP, Workday).
  • Conflict resolution or employee relations experience a plus.
