Job Description

Seeking a Hotel General Manager for the independent, historic 30-room Latchis Hotel in Brattleboro, Vermont. The Hotel General Manager oversees all aspects of the hotel's operations, including guest satisfaction, finances, sales, marketing, and the development of great front desk and housekeeping teams. The Hotel General Manager is a key player in the Latchis leadership team and integral to the success of the whole Latchis business and cultural enterprise. 

Responsibilities

Staff and front desk

  • Hire, train and oversee performance of the front desk, housekeeping and custodial teams;
  • Create and implement front desk, housekeeping and custolidal procedures
  • Oversee reservation system
  • Maintain stocks of supplies and printed materials
  • Work collaboratively with Theater Manager, Facilities Manager, Executive Director and other key partners.

Hospitality

  • Set standards and guide staff in providing excellent guest services
  • Create friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors to the Latchis
  • Be an excellent ambassador for the Latchis and for our community. Help connect guests with what our community has to offer
  • Oversee group bookings

Marketing

  • Manage advertising and marketing programs. Work collaboratively with consultants, agencies etc. in the marketing of the hotel through ad platforms and social media.
  • Oversee ongoing operation and improvement of the hotel website
  • Maintain public relations with the local community; promote the hotel and develop relationships and partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
  • Develop hotel packages and promotions and market these initiatives with a focus on tying these efforts to events in the Latchis Theatre.
  • Respond appropriately to online reviews, lead reputation management efforts
  • Initiate and oversee appropriate collection of data and information about our guests.

Financial

  • Recommend hotel rate schedules.
  • Oversee other revenue/yield management efforts
  • Work with the Executive Director to create hotel budgets, income goals and spending targets
  • Manage hotel operations within budget; oversee bookkeeping and financial management of hotel matters.

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous management experience in a similar setting
  • Ability to engage in community outreach and marketing efforts
  • Ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work without supervision
  • Degree in hotel management or a related field is a plus
