Position Summary:

The General Counsel will serve as the chief legal advisor to the organization, overseeing all legal aspects of the company's operations, transactions, and compliance matters. This executive-level role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in real estate law, corporate governance, and risk management. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to legal leadership in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership and business units on a wide range of legal issues, including real estate transactions, corporate structuring, and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee and manage all legal aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, financings, joint ventures, and leasing activities.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements including purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, loan documents, and commercial leases.
• Lead corporate governance efforts, including board matters, entity formation, and maintenance of corporate records.
• Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and risk management strategies to support business objectives.
• Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate legal support across jurisdictions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including securities, environmental, and fair housing regulations.
• Advise on employment law matters, litigation strategy, and dispute resolution.
• Support capital raising efforts and investor relations from a legal perspective.

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with a state bar.
• 6+ years of relevant legal experience, with a strong background in real estate law, corporate law, and transactional work.
• Prior Big Law experience in a real estate or finance practice group is highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to lead legal strategy in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Excellent judgment, integrity, and business acumen.
• Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
