We are currently looking for a Cranbury New Jersey site based Director of Research & Development to manage chemistry R&D personnel, site operations and business development support staff. This is a fully on-site role. Our picturesque Cranbury site is located within a central pharmaceutical development hub and diverse community situated within a 30 minute drive of New York city. As Director of Research & Development, your skills will be leveraged across the following areas:

  • Team Leadership: Create a positive learning environment, provide daily guidance and motivation to promote both personal & company growth.   • Lead Chemistry Process Development Projects: Utilize expertise in small molecule process design & development to lead high-impact research projects across multiple therapeutic areas. Collaborate with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals and milestones. Strategic thinking, innovative problem-solving, and incisive decision-making will help ensure a successful multi-project schedule.
  • Ensure on-target budgets, schedules, and performance requirements are met as they pertain to client deliverables.
  • Set Department Strategy: Help develop and execute the strategic vision for Acceledev, aligning it with organizational objectives. As part of the Acceledev Chemistry Leadership Team, define clear objectives, priorities, and indicators of excellence, ensuring we remain at the forefront.
  • Contribute to Business Growth Strategies: Shape strategies by applying process chemistry knowledge and industry trends. Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify innovative technologies and provide strategic guidance and data-driven recommendations that align with our mission and goals, driving scientific innovation and enhance our competitive position.
  • Strengthening our external relationships and partnerships: Leverage your network and effective communication skills to foster positive external collaborations.
  • Actively participate in important industry events to increase market visibility and establish strategic alliances. Cultivate relationships that reinforce our leadership in process design/development and create opportunities for transformative partnerships.

Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or closely related discipline with 10+ years of industry and leadership experience in an API chemistry process development related area

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Significant managerial experience and positive track record of training, developing talent and mentoring team members and leading chemistry R&D projects 
  • Proven track record of positively influencing teams, and departments, with the ability to work and influence across functional boundaries
  • Fluent in English with exceptional verbal & written communication skill
  • An outgoing “people person” with high interest and skill in cultivating & maintaining relationships
  • CDMO Small molecule project management experience
  • Experience in small molecule synthesis, analysis and methodology
  • Proficiency in complex problem-solving, and bench chemistry techniques
  • Process development experience with a focus on scale up
  • Experience in costing assessments, writing R&D proposals, weekly R&D reports
  • Experience with process transfer and scale-up
