DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

$70-80k salary | health, vision, dental, 401k | free garage parking

CAADS seeks a full-time Director of Education to join our small, collaborative team in downtown Sacramento. We’re a mission-driven trade association that helps adult day care facilities ensure Californians with dementia, intellectual/ developmental disabilities, and chronic health conditions stay healthy and independent.

The Director of Education will develop and implement annual conferences, regular webinars, and other educational initiatives to support our mission. They will manage all educational activities and resources by overseeing event/ project budgets, creating educational materials, coordinating events, evaluating outcomes, and implementing professional standards for CE compliance. Each year CAADS hosts 2 in-person conferences, 10+ webinars, and other in-person or virtual events, as needed. CAADS is also launching an online member forum to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and exploring the future use of a Learning Management System.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 or 4 years of experience providing high quality educational programs and online learning opportunities to professionals, preferably for associations; a track record of independently leading initiatives and collaboratively supporting team projects; and an excitement for learning new things in a supportive environment. Knowledge of aging, disability, and/or health care is a plus.

Hours: 40 hours per week, with additional hours on occasion  

Setting: In-person, with occasional conference-related travel

Core responsibilities:

 

EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIZING & EVENT PLANNING (50%)

  • Education leadership – Identify the shifting educational needs of CAADS members via subject matter knowledge development, member discussions, and surveys; and meet those needs via speaker development, industry networking, creative session planning, and educational resources development.
  • Conference delivery – Plan and manage in-person conferences via site visits, session development, online registration management, exhibitor recruitment, on-site coordination, and vendor negotiations.
  • Budget management – Prepare and implement an annual education budget and conference-specific budgets to meet budget goals. 
  • Committee support – Staff and help direct the Education Committee via agenda development, meeting logistics, and minutes preparation.

WEBINARS & ONLINE LEARNING (40%)

  • Regular webinars – Proactively plan and deliver monthly educational content, including by working with the team to secure speakers from state agencies, Managed Care Plans, and elsewhere.
  • Learning Management System – Help CAADS offer online learning opportunities and resources, including by identifying and implementing a potential Learning Management System.
  • Online forum – Support the Director of Communications and Membership in creating and growing the new CAADS online forum, including by helping manage discussion board monitoring.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES (10%)

  • Join the team in answering any incoming calls and emails asking for guidance.
  • Perform team-wide administrative duties by accurately and regularly maintaining spreadsheets, tracking documents, databases, and online accounts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

4-year college degree with minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting education and training events, preferably for a trade association.

KNOWLEDGE

Meeting/event planning principles including committee process; continuing education procedures; registration procedures; speaker, exhibitor and sponsor procurement; meeting logistics; vendor negotiations; and modern office methods and practices.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.

· Strong business writing, grammar, and communication skills.

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient at managing multiple tasks.

· Self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines.

· Maintain accurate records and analyze information for effective decision-making.

· Adaptable, flexible, and able to work gracefully under pressure with a positive attitude.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed on-site in a standard office environment. Requires occasional weekend work for event preparation and overnight travel for weekday conferences. Valid California driver’s license required. CAADS is an equal opportunity employer.
