Cost Accountant | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $69,000 - $103,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Wayland seeking Cost Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze production costs, variances, and profitability reports.
• Perform inventory valuation and reconcile physical inventory counts.
• Prepare detailed cost reports for management, highlighting trends and opportunities.
• Assist in the annual budgeting and forecasting processes related to manufacturing costs.
• Identify and analyze cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Monitor and review bills of material (BOMs) and routings for accuracy.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3-5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights

Bonus Qualifications

• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience
• Advanced SQL skills for data extraction and analysis
