Job Description

Overview:

WJCS is seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Officer to join our team. This role oversees the implementation and management of the agency-wide Compliance program and provides expert guidance to management on regulatory and operational matters. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors, the Compliance Officer plays a key role in ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards across the organization. This full-time position has a salary range of $90,000 - $100,000.

Responsibilities:

As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Compliance program.
  • Providing guidance to agency staff regarding Compliance policies and procedures (P & P) and governmental laws, rules, and regulations including assisting leadership staff in performing internal audits.
  • Monitoring and following up on all Compliance Helpline calls and compliance inquiries from all sources from within and outside the agency.
  • Chairing the Staff Compliance Committee and serves as the agency liaison to and is a member of the BOD Compliance Committee.
  • Coordinating internal investigations of suspected compliance issues and implement corrective actions needed.
  • Conducting, evaluating, and coordinating recipient satisfaction surveys (internal and NYSOMH), and is responsible for reviewing and approving the handling of all agency complaints.
  • Overseeing efforts to educate employees, volunteers, BOD, vendors, and other agents about their role in the compliance program and how to recognize and report potential compliance violations (e.g., Staff Annual Training, New Staff Orientation).
  • Overseeing and providing, as assigned, the SCIP-R, AMAP, CPR, First Aid, vehicle safety, fire safety, and other training modules (individual and group).
  • Serving as liaison with external surveys from OPWDD, DOH and other governmental agencies.
  • Providing required incident information entry into IRMA and serve as liaison with OPWDD Incident Management Unit and the Justice Center.
  • Promoting a culture of non-intimidation and non-retaliation in compliance-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Business, Healthcare or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in comparable role
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OPWDD, OMH, DOH, HUD and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
