Job Description

The Commercial HVAC Technician will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and servicing commercial HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to balance field service with office responsibilities. The technician will play a key role in guiding repair or replacement decisions, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately evaluate existing HVAC systems and determine the best course of action for repair or replacement.
  • Diagnose and address customer concerns, clearly presenting service options and recommendations.
  • Perform service, maintenance, and repair work on:
  • Commercial package units (25 tons and above)
  • Chillers (water- and air-cooled, up to 150 tons)
  • Boilers, air compressors, and advanced control systems
  • Apply proper diagnostic procedures to ensure accurate troubleshooting and long-term solutions.
  • Complete all required service documentation, reports, and compliance records in a timely manner.
  • Lead and participate in weekly training meetings, fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior technicians, promoting technical growth and customer-first service.
  • Balance field service responsibilities with office-based leadership, scheduling, and organizational duties.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC-R service.
  • Proven expertise with large-scale commercial systems, including package units, chillers, boilers, and advanced controls.
  • Refrigeration experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and hold teams accountable.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and balance fieldwork with administrative responsibilities.
