Job Description

Our client ("Company"), a large multi-unit cannabis retailer in Michigan, is seeking an experienced strategic Chief Financial Officer to drive financial strategy and growth.

Retail finance leadership and M&A experience is a must; cannabis retail experience is a plus.

This individual will collaborate with the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy, growth and operations.

Client has a remote home-based setup for its leaders, but strongly desires a Michigan-based CFO hire or possibly a location closely bordering Michigan. Spending an extensive amount of time traveling throughout the Michigan market as a an active partner to the President/COO on a regular weekly basis will be a non-negotiable for success.

Responsibilities :

• Enhance, implement, and enforce policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of Company.
• Responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships.
• Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends.
• Participate in the development of Company’s strategic plans and programs as a member of the senior leadership team.
• Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs / strategies and regulatory action.
• Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting Company.
• Oversee accounting and accounts payable and foster best practices across Company.
• Manage assets and annual CAPEX allocations.
• Oversee external audit compliance and assist with deliverables.
• Provide advice related to effective decision-making related to cost of capital.
• Provide data, reporting, and support for investor relations initiatives.

Required Qualifications :

• Successful career trajectory in finance with a focus on M&A.
• Retail industry experience required, cannabis industry experience a plus.
• Successful track record of building finance teams from the top seat.
• Driven by digging in and affecting positive change.
• Managing relationships with lenders and banks.
• Michigan-based, or Michigan-border based.

Desired Qualifications :

• CFO experience at a start up.
• Master's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
• CPA or CFA.
