Job Title: Ammonia Refrigeration Technician

Job Summary

We seek a skilled and safety-focused Ammonia Refrigeration Technician to join our Los Angeles, CA operations team. This critical role is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing industrial ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ammonia refrigeration, a deep understanding of safety standards, and certifications such as CIRO or RETA.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial ammonia refrigeration systems in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and PSM standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
• Monitor system performance, pressures, temperatures, and flows; make necessary adjustments.
• Assist in the installation, startup, and commissioning of new refrigeration equipment.
• Maintain detailed inspection, maintenance, and repair logs to support compliance and performance tracking.
• Respond to emergencies and perform safe ammonia leak response procedures.
• Mentor and train junior technicians on refrigeration systems and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to support production and efficiency goals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems in industrial settings.
• CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) certification preferred.
• Solid understanding of PSM (Process Safety Management) and RMP (Risk Management Plan) regulations.
• Proficiency in reading electrical, mechanical, and P&ID schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC/R or industrial maintenance is a plus.
