About the Role & Program
Ever wonder what it’s like to work in a fast-paced newsroom? ABC News NY Bureau is seeking an intern who will learn the ins and outs of what it takes to work in a breaking-news environment. This internship is designed to introduce and engage undergraduate students with a passion for broadcast journalism to the daily workings of a 24-hour global news organization. This position is perfect for those who enjoy a fast-paced atmosphere and have a desire to gain experience working in many different stages of production.
The approximate dates of this internship are September 2025 through early January 2026.
What You Will Do
Provide production support to the ABC News NY Bureau Assignment Desk (answering phones, booking travel) and ABC NewsOne (editing, video research, live news production)
Pitch stories, research, make editorial calls, log video feeds, and transcribe tapes
Write stories or livestream for ABC News Digital platforms
Required Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
Experience using Microsoft Office
Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
Experience working in collaborative environments, and researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
Experience video editing with Avid or Adobe Premiere
Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing for either online or print publications
Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting
Education
Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are September 2025 through early January 2026
Fully available to work 40 hours per week (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights, weekends, and/or possible overnights)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
